Lagavulin is a whiskey distillery in the town of the same name on the Scottish Isle of Islay. As early as 1742, whiskey was being produced at the site of today's distillery. However, the first legal distillery was not founded until 1816 by John Johnston. Located in the south of the island, in close proximity to Ardbeg and Laphroaig, Lagavulin, like its neighbors, produces smoky single malt whisky. The name of the distillery means something like "the trough of the mill".
Lagavulin Distillers Edition 2022 first matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks and then received a post-maturation in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. Bottled at 43 vol. % alcohol.
Aroma: Sweet and smoky with hints of trail mix and dried fruit, fruit and some mocha, slightly spicy oak.
Taste: Roasted malt, aromatic mix of sweetness and spice with raisins and nuts, lovage and peat smoke.
