The Caol Ila distillery, located in a bay on the Scottish island of Islay, can be translated as “The Straits of Islay”. Founded in 1846, the distillery is now the largest on the island. Equipped with the latest technology, Caol Ila produces both the smoky part in many Johnnie Walker bottlings and its own single malts. The distillery is quite popular with many independent bottlers, as the high output of the production leads to a good availability of casks.

Caol Ila 18 Years matured the entire time in former bourbon barrels. Bottled at 43 vol. % alcohol.

Aroma: Sweet and sour fruit aromas, seaweed, hazelnuts with an underlying smoky note.

Taste: Grapefruit and orange peel, mild herbs, aromatic balance of sweet and spicy, mild peat smoke.
