After the founding of the Benromach distillery in 1898, the distillery really had dark times behind it. In the 1980s Benromach seemed on the brink of collapse before Elgin independent bottlers Gordon & Macphail took over the distillery. In 1998, Prince Charles reopened the Forres distillery. Benromach is one of the few distilleries in the Scottish Speyside that produces continuously with smoky barley malt.
Benromach 10 years matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Bottled at 43 vol. % alcohol, without coloring.
Aroma: Oranges and zest, slightly leathery peat smoke with mild spices and slightly chocolatey oak.
Taste: Sour-sweet, blood orange and grapefruit, hints of herbs, mild smoke, leather.
