The rum comes from the Mohan Meakin Limited distillery in Ghaziabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India. Old Monk Rum 7 Years is relatively new on the German market, but on a global scale it is one of the best-selling rums.

Like most rums, Old Monk Rum 7 Years is made from molasses. It is aged for 7 years in oak barrels previously used to store sherry.

The fairly long storage time gives the rum a dark color. Nevertheless, the Old Monk Rum tastes soft and mild for 7 years. Connoisseurs who have tried the rum report that it tastes significantly different than rums from the Caribbean.

A hint of chocolate is immediately noticeable in the aroma. When tasting you can feel notes of cocoa and almonds. The rum is mild and pleasant without a biting aftertaste.
