The Ardnamurchan Distillery is located in the Scottish Highlands and is considered one of the most remote distilleries in all of Scotland. It is named after the peninsula on which it sits. Construction began in 2013, and production started in 2014 using two wash stills and one spirit still. Ardnamurchan is owned by Adelphi Distillers Ltd., an independent bottler.
This 10-year-old whisky marks the beginning of a regular release.
It will be released annually in increasing quantities, similar to the original.
Single Malt from 2020. While last year's anniversary edition celebrating the distillery's 10th anniversary was a one-off special edition, the new Ardnamurchan 10 Year Old marks the start of a regular release.
This whisky is married from 54 ex-bourbon casks (95%) and 2 ex-sherry casks (5%), which were originally filled with 52% unpeated and 48% peated whisky.
Bottled at 46.8% ABV. Non-chill filtered and uncolored.
Aroma: On the nose, coconut, oatcakes and tangy orange peel unfold, underscored by salty sea air, the scent of campfire leaves and a hint of strawberries and mint.
Taste: On the palate, the wine is rich and creamy with aromas of vanilla cream, vanilla wafers, brine, and earthy smoke. A lingering, smoky, maritime aroma characterizes the finish.
