Ardnahoe Bholsa 0.7l – robust Islay single malt with sherry influence

The Ardnahoe Bholsa 0.7l (50% ABV) is a characterful single malt from the relatively new Ardnahoe Distillery on Islay. Named after the mysterious Bholsa caves on the island's north coast, this whisky combines traditional craftsmanship with a distinctly maritime character.

The distillery sources its water from nearby Loch Ardnahoe and is the only distillery on Islay to use classic worm tubs in combination with unusually long lyne arms. This traditional technique ensures particularly high copper contact and gives the whisky its remarkable depth and complexity.

Its maturation in selected Oloroso sherry casks brings out intense aromas and a deep color that blend perfectly with its smoky character. Bottled at its natural strength of 50% ABV , the Ardnahoe Bholsa is powerful, balanced, and exhibits typical Islay smoke.

Tasting notes

• Aroma: Fruity notes of red berries, dark fruits and orange peel, accompanied by walnuts and elegant peat smoke.

• Taste: Sweet raisins, dates and plums meet a subtle peppery spice, embedded in the typical smoke of Islay malts.

• Finish: Long-lasting, maritime and spicy, with peppery nuances and subtle smoke.
