The Ardbeg distillery, located in the south of the Scottish island of Islay, can now call itself one of the finest addresses for smoky single malts – after a once troubled past, including its closure. In addition to various permanently available whiskies, the distillery is known and popular for its limited-edition bottlings.

Ardbeg Smokiverse matured for an unspecified period in former bourbon casks. Bottled at 48.3% ABV, without coloring, and non-chill-filtered.

Aroma: A burst of fruity, ester-rich notes, like smoked bubble gum, along with lovely aromas of ripe barley and toasted sourdough bread. With a little water, further smoke: very sweet and aromatic, reminiscent of juicy tropical fruits, gently smoked.

Palate: A rich, creamy texture, followed by rich, sooty notes of tar, tar oil, anise, and cloves, tempered with a pronounced sweetness of brown cane sugar. Additionally, some structured, woody aromas of sweet oak and leather.
