"Doesn't that look like...?" – Yes, that's right: a monk! Because, according to legend, Frangelico owes its name to Brother Angelico (Italian: "fratello angelico"), one of the Christian monks from the northern Italian province of Piedmont. The monks from Piedmont were known for their creations of fine food and drinks and, in particular, for the art of distilling. Fra' Angelico is said to have laid the foundation for our Frangelico back in the 18th century when he first made it from the valuable "Tonda Gentile" hazelnuts. In commemoration of this and to ensure its unmistakable character, each bottle is appropriately given a cord around its waist. Legendary!
