Hakushu Distillery was established in 1973 in Toribara Village of the former Hakushu City in the forest on the slopes of Mount Kaikoma. Besides Yamazaki, Hakushu is Suntory's second distillery, which focuses on the production of single malt whisky. However, Hakushu uses lightly peated malt, which Yamazaki does not.

Hakushu 18 Peated Malt consists of carefully selected malt whiskeys, all aged for at least 18 years in different casks and created in honor of Suntory Whisky's centenary. Hakushu Distillery's master distillers work with peat and soften the flavor with the region's exceptional mountain water, which is filtered through ancient granite rocks. Bottled at 48 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.

Aroma: Covered floral with aromas of sage and spices, tropical fruits with aromatic oak and some smoke.

Taste: Spices, herbs and sweetness mixed with pineapple, grapefruit and green apples, acacia honey and dry oak.
