The Chichibu Distillery was founded in 2004 in the town of the same name by Ichiro Akuto. Ichiro comes from a family with a long history of sake brewing. In 1945, Ichiro's grandfather decided to make whiskey. These mark the beginnings of the Hanyu Distillery. It closed due to bankruptcy in 2000. Ichiro salvaged the cask inventory and started his Chichibu Distillery in 2008.
Ichiro's Malt & Grain matured in oak casks for an undefined period of time. Bottled at 46.5% ABV. Alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Ripe fruit notes, creamy sweetness with citrus peel, malt and spices, roasted chestnuts.
Taste: Sweet with caramel and malt sugar, peppery and spicy, apricots and hints of tobacco.
