The Ardbeg distillery, located in the south of the Scottish island of Islay, can now call itself one of the best addresses for smoky single malts - after a difficult past that included closure. In addition to various whiskies that are permanently available, the distillery is known and popular for its limited bottlings that are available from time to time.

Ardbeg Traigh Bhan Batch 6 matured for 19 years in former bourbon and oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46.2% alcohol by volume, without coloring and not chill-filtered.

Nose: A rather unusual olive oil scent, with some tar, sooty smoke, ginger chocolate and freshly mown grass. With water the bouquet opens up to reveal the ultimate Ardbeg notes with fennel, peppermint, eucalyptus and tar rope in the foreground.

Taste: The first impression is slightly oily, followed by an intense minty sweetness accompanied by toasted bread notes, tar oil, tar soap and a hint of smoked pineapple. The deep, rich flavors continue with dark chocolate, peppermint cream, campfire embers and camphor.
