In 1966, John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son and the Cork Distilleries Company (which operated Old Midleton Distillery) combined to form the Irish Distillers Group. Subsequently, it was decided to close the existing distilleries and to bundle the entire production in a new, very modern facility. This was built in Midleton. In 1975 production ended at the Old Jameson Distillery and began at the new one. The old distillery has now been converted into a visitor centre.
Redbreast Lustau first matured in ex-bourbon casks for an undefined period of time and then received a post-maturation in sherry casks. Bottled at 46% ABV. Alcohol, not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Hints of dark dried fruits, spices and sweetness, pithy grain, nutty.
Taste: Creamy with caramel and pepper, marzipan, raisins, brown sugar and chocolatey oak.
