In 1966, John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son and the Cork Distilleries Company (which operated Old Midleton Distillery) combined to form the Irish Distillers Group. Subsequently, it was decided to close the existing distilleries and to bundle the entire production in a new, very modern facility. This was built in Midleton. In 1975 production ended in the Old Jameson Distillery and began in the new one. The old distillery has now been converted into a visitor center.
