The original Wolfburn Distillery was founded in 1821 by William Smith & Co in the North Highlands. Production stopped around 1850 and the distillery fell into disrepair. In 1872 only ruins remained. Plans for a new distillery not far from the site of the old facility only emerged in 2011. Whiskey production started in January 2013.
Wolfburn Northland matured in former Islay-Quarter casks for an undefined period. Bottled at 46 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Malty-sweet with fresh citrus fruits, maritime notes and a hint of peat smoke.
Taste: Dry nutty with a delicate sweetness, icing sugar, light grapes, barley malt, grassy freshness.
