The Glenfiddich distillery was built by William Grant between 1886 and 1887 and began production on Christmas Day 1887. In 1892, the founder took a break from managing the Glenfiddich distillery to build the nearby Balvenie distillery, which is also still owned by William Grant & Sons. The distinctive three-sided Glenfiddich bottle was introduced in 1963. That same year, the distillery also released its first official single malt whisky.
Glenfiddich 15 Year Old matured for its entire duration in a combination of ex-bourbon, sherry and fresh American white oak (virgin oak) casks.
Bottled with a mild 40% alcohol by volume.
Aroma: Sweet and spicy, grain with hints of baked apple and raisin, dry oak and a touch of cinnamon.
Taste: Slightly peppery, sweet with caramel, fruity with ripe apples and pears, nutty oak note.
