The Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg was originally known as the Ripy Distillery. The distillery was given its current name in 1940. This can be traced back to a turkey hunt in which Austin Nichols' manager carried various samples of his new bourbon whiskey with him. The wild turkeys hunted and the bourbon samples gave the distillery its current name.
Wild Turkey Rare Breed matured for an indefinite period in fresh and heavily burned American White Oak (Virgin Oak) barrels. Bottled at a strong 58.4% ABV. Alcohol, without dye.
Nose: Earthy notes with hints of leather, mix of spices and sweetness, grain and dry oak.
Taste: Sweetness and spiciness in balance with honey and pepper, delicate fruitiness, roasted aromas and wood.
