The Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg was originally known as the Ripy Distillery. The distillery was given its current name in 1940. This can be traced back to a turkey hunt in which Austin Nichols' manager carried various samples of his new bourbon whiskey with him. The wild turkeys hunted and the bourbon samples gave the distillery its current name.
Wild Turkey 101 matured in fresh American white oak barrels (Virgin Oak) for an undefined period of time. Bottled at a strong 50.5% ABV. Alcohol, without dye.
Aroma: Sweet with vanilla and caramel, delicate notes of spices, some dry wood and tobacco.
Taste: Citrus accented with oranges and zest, sweet honey, some spice and oak.
