The Laphroaig Distillery was officially founded in 1815 in the south of the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay. During Prohibition, the distillery's whisky was sold as medicine, which explains the appearance and design of the whiskies. In 1994, the distillery received a Royal Warrant from King Charles III. He greatly admired Laphroaig's smoky single malt whisky and regularly visited the distillery. Laphroaig translates as "the beautiful hollow by the broad bay."
Laphroaig The Cask Lore matured for between seven and 21 years in former bourbon, European oak and Oloroso sherry casks, as well as quarter casks.
Bottled at 48% alcohol by volume, non-chill filtered.
Aroma: Sharp peat smoke and sea minerals with a hint of ash and chocolate.
Taste: Lively with hints of dark chocolate, ash and a spicy chili bite.
