The Stauning Distillery was founded in 2005 in the town of the same name in Denmark. Production began in 2009 with an initial 60,000 pure alcohol per year. After Diageo acquired a stake in the distillery, the facility was expanded and output increased to 750,000 pure alcohol annually. Stauning malts the rye for production and sometimes uses peat and heather for drying.
Stauning Floor Malted Single Rye matured in an oak barrel (Virgin Oak) for an undefined period of time. Bottled at 41% vol. Alcohol, without coloring and not cold filtered.
Aroma: Grainy with bread dough, spices and fruity chewy sweets, dry wood.
