Lagavulin is a whisky distillery in the town of the same name on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. Whisky was produced at the site of the current distillery as early as 1742. However, the first legal distillery was not founded until 1816 by John Johnston. Located in the south of the island, in close proximity to Ardbeg and Laphroaig, Lagavulin produces smoky single malt whisky like its neighbors. The name of the distillery translates as "the hollow of the mill".
Lagavulin 12 year old matured the entire time in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and fresh oak casks (virgin oak).
Bottled with a strong 57.4% alcohol by volume.
Aroma: Wild berry jam and a beautiful smokiness harmonize with exotic spices.
Taste: Soft and creamy with caramel, smoke and coconut. Maritime hints and medicinal nuances.
