
In 1966, John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son, and the Cork Distilleries Company (which operated the Old Midleton Distillery) merged to form the Irish Distillers Group. Following this, it was decided to close the existing distilleries and consolidate all production in a new, highly modern facility, which was built in Midleton. Production at the Old Jameson Distillery ended in 1975 and began at the new one. The old distillery has since been converted into a visitor center.
