A local farmer named George Connell founded Glengoyne Distillery in 1833 in the southern Highlands. However, under the name "Burnfoot of Dumgoyne". In 1861 it was renamed the Glenguin Distillery. It was not until 1906, after it was sold to the Lang brothers, that it was given the name Glengoyne, which we know today. Most of the single malts from the distillery come with an age statement.
Glengoyne Balbaina matured in ex-bourbon casks for an undefined period of time and then received a post-maturation in sherry casks. Bottled at 43% vol. Alcohol, without dye.
Aroma: Floral and sweet with milk chocolate, nuts and grains, dry oak.
Palate: Ripe pears and candied apples, mocha, malty and sweet with honey, oak and spice.
