Founded in 1967, the Glenallachie Distillery is one of the younger distilleries in Scotland. Located just outside the town of Aberlour, the distillery was originally built for mass production for the blend industry. Since the takeover of the distillery by a group of investors in 2017, the focus today is on their own single malts. These are matured and post-matured in a variety of different types of casks. Glenallachie means something like "Valley of Stones".
Glenallachie 12 Years Old first matured in ex-bourbon casks and then received a post-maturation in fresh Spanish oak casks. Bottled at 48% ABV. Alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Fruity and sweet with a slight dryness of oak, hints of chocolate and pepper.
Palate: Aromatic spiciness, sweet with vanilla and caramel, citrus and dry oak.
