Established in the East Highlands in 1824, Fettercairn Distillery is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. More than 60 years later, a fire almost completely destroyed the distillery. After the reconstruction, Fettercairn experienced a few changes of ownership and now belongs to an Indian industrialist who places the distillery's single malts in the luxury segment.
Fettercairn 16 years old first matured in ex-bourbon casks and then received a post-maturation in Oloroso and Palo Cortado sherry casks. Bottled at 46.4 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Hearty grain with aromatic spices, mild sweetness and light dried fruit, hay.
Taste: Emphasized cereals with peppery spiciness, citrus peel and hints of light grapes.
