The Ardbeg distillery, located in the south of the Scottish island of Islay, can now call itself one of the best addresses for smoky single malts - after a difficult past including closure. In addition to various permanently available whiskeys, the distillery is known and popular for temporarily available, limited bottlings.

Ardbeg Anthology matured for 13 years in rare French Sauternes sweet wine barrels and is married to Ardbeg from classic ex-bourbon barrels .
Bottled at 46 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not cold filtered.

Aroma: Distinctively oily, with notes of extra virgin olive oil, briar burl, aromatic herbs such as coriander and sage, a hint of smoked lemon zest.
A splash of water releases further oiliness, like linseed oil, with a slight waxiness, aromatic carbolic soap and a little crème brûlée.

Taste: A soft, oily texture with a rich, sweet-smoky flavor.
Notes of oak moss, molasses, aniseed candy with a lovely, sweet-woody balsamic tone, aromas of smoked apricots and eucalyptus oil follow.
