Originally founded in 1972, Glengyle shares the same fate as almost all distilleries in Campbeltown. Hedley Wright, descendant of founder William Mitchell and owner of the Springbank Distillery, bought the old Glengyle buildings in November 2000 and began renovation work. He used mainly second-hand equipment to produce the single malt. The Glengyle Distillery reopened in 2004 and the first new make was distilled on March 25th.

Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 6 matured for an undefined time in a combination of former 85% ex-bourbon, 15% ex-sherry casks . Bottled with a strong 57.4% alcohol by volume, without coloring and not chill-filtered.

Aroma: Roasted marshmallows , dry mineral notes, citrus fruits and peel, fresh.

Taste: Mix of sweetness and acidity with citrus fruits, some vanilla, dry grain, rich smoke.
