The hammer mill has been producing spirits in the small town of Zorge in the Harz Mountains since 1984. In 2002, Anna-Katharina Buchholz began to include whiskey in the distillery's portfolio due to her own passion for whiskey. The single malts from the Harz Mountains, which have different names due to the varying distillate character, live from aging in Madeira, Sherry, Marsala, Malaga, red wine, Sauternes and many other casks.

Elsburn Cozy Winter VIII is one of the exclusive winter editions from the German Hammerschmiede distillery, which is bottled every year for German distribution. For the 2022 edition, slightly smoky malt whiskey was used again. This time it matured in various first-fill Malaga, Marsala, port and sherry casks.

Aroma: Gently smoky with notes of smoked ham, malt and preserved fruit, sugary sweet.

Palate: Fruity with raisins, almonds and cotton candy, dark chocolate and spicy smoke.
