Bunnahabhain was founded in 1881 by the Greenless brothers on the Scottish island of Islay and means something like "river mouth". The distillery has one of the largest stills on the island and produces both smokeless and smoked whiskey. With an approximate smoke content of 38 ppm, the peated bottlings are considered to be rather mildly smoky. These can be found very often in the bottle typical of Bunnahabhain, which is very darkly colored under Gaelic names.
Bunnahabhain Cruach-Mhòna matured in oak casks for an undefined period. Bottled at a strong 50 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Maritime and pleasantly smoky, hay and grain, delicate sweetness and spice in the mix.
Taste: Sweet and malty, herbs, aromatic peat smoke with a peppery edge and some oak.
