The Glenrothes distillery was built in 1878 on the former site of a sawmill and was the second distillery in the Scottish town of Rothes after Glen Grant. In May 1922 a fire destroyed over 2,500 filled whiskey casks. The burning contents spilled into the river in front of the distillery, which runs right through the town. Glenrothes is known for its single malts, which are almost exclusively matured in Spanish sherry casks.
Glenrothes Minister's Reserve matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks for an undefined period of time. Bottled at 43% vol. Alcohol, without coloring.
Aroma: Sugared grapefruit, dried fruit peel, cedar wood and mild sweetness.
Taste: Citrus-accented with vanilla, floral notes, tropical fruits and spicy oak.
