The Tomatin distillery was founded in 1897 in the Scottish Highlands and was the largest whiskey distillery in Scotland with 23 stills in the 1970s. In 1985 the distillery was sold to Japanese companies, which lowered the production level of Tomatin. The distillery now has a variety of different single malts in its range - with and without peat smoke, from a wide variety of casks.
Tomatin 8 years matured the entire time in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks. Bottled at 40 vol. % alcohol.
Aroma: Sweet cereal notes with sour fruits and ginger, dry nutty, floral.
Flavor: Malt sugar and breakfast cereal, green apples with a hint of nuttiness.
