Since its founding in 1898, the Benromach distillery has endured truly dark times. In the 1980s, Benromach seemed on the verge of collapse before the independent bottler Gordon & Macphail of Elgin took over the distillery. In 1998, the Forres distillery was reopened by Prince Charles. Benromach is one of the few distilleries in Scotland's Speyside region to continue producing smoky barley malt.
Benromach Contrasts Double Matured matured from 2011 to 2023 first in first-fill bourbon casks and was finished for 5 years in Bordeaux wine casks.
Bottled at 46% alcohol by volume, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma and taste: Honey, floral notes, dark fruits, toasted oak,
delicate peat smoke
