In 1966, the companies John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son and the Cork Distilleries Company (operating the Old Midleton Distillery) merged to form the Irish Distillers Group. It was subsequently decided to close the existing distilleries and consolidate all production in a new, very modern facility. This was built in Midleton. In 1975 production ended in the Old Jameson Distillery and began in the new one. The old distillery has now been converted into a visitor center.

The Irish whiskey brand Redbreast is expanding its Iberian Series. The third part in this series is the Redbreast Tawny Port Cask Edition. The Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey was initially stored in a combination of bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Some of these whiskeys were then allowed to mature for a few years in Tawny Port Casks from the Portuguese Douro Valley. Finally, these Irish whiskeys were blended together and stored again in Tawny Port Hogsheads for a period of 14 to 25 months. Bottled with 46% vol.
