The Pulteney Distillery, which bottles its single malts as "Old Pulteney", was founded in 1826 in the harbor town of Wick in the northern Highlands. When the distillery opened, the town of Wick was experiencing a massive boom in herring fishing. The large number of people employed in the fishery forced the town council to declare a ban on alcohol in Wick. Pulteney is one of the few Scottish distilleries located in the town center and not outside.

The Highland distillery has bottled this Old Pulteney single cask whisky exclusively for the German market. The Scotch enjoyed 17 years of cask maturation from 2004 to 2022. It was allowed to mature completely in bourbon barrels with the barrel number 222. The distillery bottled the single malt Scotch whisky at an alcohol content of 54.2% by volume. As a natural bottling, it also comes without colorant and chill filtration. Just 222 bottles are available to buy.

Aroma: This single cask whisky is sweet and aromatic on the nose. It brings sweet impressions of vanilla and caramel. Butterscotch and honey are present. Behind this are subtle spicy oak notes.

Taste: The Old Pulteney Cask 222 is creamy on the tongue and exudes aromas of sweet honey and vanilla. Fruity notes are also clearly perceptible, while the salt in the taste evokes maritime impressions.
