Evidence of (illegal) whiskey distilling in the region around the town of Tain dates back to around 1700, but legal whiskey has only been produced at the Glenmorangie Distillery since 1843. The distillery was the first to begin maturing its whiskey in other barrels on a large scale. Over the years, the distillery has been expanded several times, but they deliberately stuck to the small but tall stills, which are unique in shape in all of Scotland.
Glenmorangie 18 Years Extremely Rare first matured in former bourbon casks and was then matured in sherry casks. Bottled at 43% vol. Alcohol.
Aroma: Hints of light dried fruits, sweetness and spice in the mix, muted floral notes, oak.
Taste: Sweet with honey and malt sugar, floral and fresh, dried apricots and slightly spicy dry oak.
