Bunnahabhain was founded in 1881 by the Greenless brothers on the Scottish island of Islay and means something like "river mouth". The distillery has one of the largest stills on the island and produces whiskey without smoke as well as with it. With an approximate smoke content of 38 ppm, the peated bottlings are considered to be rather mildly smoky. These are very often found in the typical Bunnahabhain bottle, which is very dark in color and has Gaelic names.
Bunnahabhain Eirigh Na Greine matured in former red wine barrels for an undefined period of time. Bottled at 46.3 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not cold filtered.
Aroma: Rosehip and hints of red berries, cooling mint and sweet sweetness, floral.
Taste: Delicate cherry notes, malt sugar, orange peel and aromatic oak, mild spices.
